Queen Contest

2026 Rules

QUEEN

• Must be a resident of Mahaska County or a participant in the Southern Iowa Fair.
• Must be between the ages of 16 & 21 years of age.
• Must never have been married or had children. If married during the reign, your title goes to the 1st runner up.
• Must be able to be at the Southern Iowa Fair July 13-18, 2026
• Need to check in the Fair Office at 8:30 a.m. each morning for assignments.
• The Queen must be available to attend the State Fair from August 13th through August 23rd, 2026, to participate in the judging and all Queen Contest events. If crowned Iowa State Fair queen, would be required to stay through the remainder of the State Fair.
• Must be able to bake and present a pie to be auctioned off at the conclusion of the on-stage portion of the Southern Iowa Queen Fair Contest.

Contestants will be judged on:

• Charm
• Poise
• Personality
• Attitude
• Overall Appearance
• Citizenship
• Contributions to their community.

• Contestants may pick up entry forms at the Fair Office or print it off our website. Entries must be returned to the Fair Office by Wednesday, June 24 at 3:00 p.m.
  A meeting will be held at the fair office on June 24th at 5:30pm. 
  NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
• Entries must include a billfold-size picture of yourself & 1- 5x8 picture of yourself.
• Judging will take place on Monday, July 13th from 9:00 am until the crowing concludes at the Free Stage beginning at 6:00 pm.
